The Quebec Society for Disabled Children is pleased to welcome Mr. Rémy Girard as spokesperson and ambassador for the children and their families.
Chosen one of the top twenty actors by the New-York Times in 2004, Rémy Girard has enjoyed, for the past thirty years, a prolific career that spanned theatre, movies, and television, with some fifty films and a great number of plays to his credit. He held leading roles which earned him numerous performance awards in all categories.

Recently, Rémy Girard was part of a Group of Experts who was instructed by the Government of Canada’s Minister of Finance to study ways to help the parents of severely disabled children to increase their savings in order to ensure long-term financial security. Results from the work of this Group of Experts have led to the establishment of the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP).
This nomination is not a mere coincidence. In the frenzy of his daily life as an actor, comedian, stage director, and author, Rémy Girard is first and foremost a father, “the role of my life” he admits when speaking of his son Renaud.
Today, he is taking over from Marc-André Coallier who represented the Quebec Society for Disabled Children for over 20 years. Marc-André Coallier exerted crucial influence by his sensitivity and his approach to the children’s disabilities. In his opinion, they are not disabled, they just have different abilities that require a tailor-made environment adapted to their needs in order to enable them to face their daily challenges.
Rémy Girard will assist the Quebec Society for Disabled Children in the pursuit of its objectives that aim to stimulate the development of disabled children, to favour their integration into the community, and to fulfill the special needs of their families.
